The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health provides you with a solid foundation in understanding mental health in relation to younger members of our society.
10% of children and young people aged between 5 and 16 have a clinically diagnosed mental health issue. And 20% of adolescents experience mental health problems every year.
Without support, 50% of identified mental health issues become established by the age of 14.
This course will develop your knowledge and awareness of the challenges facing children and young people with mental health issues.
You will learn about the impact of those issues, as well as how to help children and young people maintain good mental health and wellbeing.
This qualification will allow you to progress onto further qualifications and into employment within the health, social care and education sectors.
To be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health, learners are required to pass 5 mandatory units:
- Unit 01 Understanding children and young people’s mental health in context
- Unit 02 Understanding factors which may affect children and young people’s mental health
- Unit 03 Understanding children and young people’s mental health concerns
- Unit 04 Understanding the impact of children and young people’s mental health concerns
- Unit 05 Understanding how to support children and young people with mental health

Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements, however, learners should have a minimum of Level 1 in Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent.

Learners must be age 16+ to enrol.
Average completion timeframe
You have 24 months to complete your course.
Assessment requirements
You will be assessed through written questions that will test the knowledge you have gained throughout the course.
Placement or Practical required
This course consists of online theory only.

Certification Timeframe
Learners typically receive their certification within 12 weeks, though this can be longer if an EQA sample is required.
Course Fees
All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.

Each unit is followed by a group of assessment questions, designed to test your knowledge of the information you have read, researched and digested throughout that piece of learning.
Once you have completed each unit assessment, you will submit them to your tutor for marking.
You cannot fail this course, but your tutor may highlight areas where they need a little more information to ensure you fully understand each area, in order to pass.
