This qualification is perfect for those aiming for a career in adult social care or who already work in the setting and are looking for an introductory qualification. This NCFE CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care RQF Qualification has been designed as a knowledge based course. As such no practical elements are involved. However, if you are looking to study a qualification that covers both theoretical and practical elements, you should consider the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) RQF.
How does the course work?
This is a distance learning course which means you will work independently from home. You will be able to be in touch with your tutor via phone, email and through our learning platform, but you will ultimately be in charge of your own study schedule. The amount of time you dedicate to your studies will depend on how much time you can schedule in between other commitments as well as how well you are able to grasp the learning materials.
On average learners will take between 3 - 4 months to complete this course.

- Understand how to work in an inclusive way
- Understand how to raise awareness of diversity, equality and inclusion
Unit Four: Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care (A/601/8574)
On completion of this unit you will:
- Know how to recognise signs of abuse
- Know how to respond to suspected or alleged abuse
- Understand the national and local context of safeguarding and protection from abuse
- Understand ways to reduce the likelihood of abuse

- Understand how to move and handle equipment and other objects safely
- Understand the principles of assisting and moving an individual
- Understand how to handle hazardous substances
- Understand how to promote environmental safety procedures in the social care setting

- Understand procedures regarding handling medication
- Understand how to handle and store food safely
Unit Nine: Understand how to handle information in social care settings (D/602/3119)
On completion of this unit you will:
- Understand requirements for handling information in social care settings
- Understand good practice in handling information in social care settings
- Understand how to support others to handle information
Entry Requirements
As this is a Level 3 qualification, learners will need to have a good standard of written and verbal communication skills (written skills, for example, would need to be at Level 2+).
Minimum age restriction
Learners must be age 16+ to enrol.

You have 24 months to complete your course.
Assessment requirements
You will be assessed through written questions that will test the knowledge you have gained throughout the course.
