By studying iA Levels instead of traditional A Levels, you have the benefits of a different exam structure. There are three opportunities for exams, and they are fully flexible, meaning that you can take each unit exam when you feel ready to do so. Also, when it comes to re-sits, you can re-take a single unit as opposed to the full exam.  But if that's not for you, this course will also cover the AQA A Level specification.

This course covers an array of topics, all of which you will need to grasp should you want to progress your academic career. You will develop a range of skills and techniques that will allow you to tackle mathematical processes and mathematical proofs.

Units 3-7: Algebra I:

These units introduce the algebra skills you’ll use throughout the course, giving you the tools you need to prove a range of mathematical statements.

Units 8 and 9: Calculus I:

Here, you’ll start learning calculus – a mathematical tool which will allow you to investigate rates of change and optimisation.

Units 10-12: Algebra II:

In these units, you’ll build on your algebra skills and learn how to work with special functions. In particular, you’ll see how exponential and logarithmic functions have a wide range of real-world applications.

Units 13-15: Geometry I:

So far, you’ve developed your algebraic skills and learnt how to work with different expressions and equations. In these units, you’ll start applying these skills to geometric problems.

Units 16-19: Calculus II:

These units will combine your previous studies in calculus with some of the new ideas that you’ve learnt regarding special functions.

Unit 20: Geometry II:

You’ll combine what you know about the trigonometric functions with your algebraic techniques and solve problems or prove statements involving trigonometry.

Units 21 and 22: Calculus III

These two units complete your studies of pure mathematics with some advanced calculus techniques. This concludes your pure maths units.

Units 23 and 24: Interpreting Data:

These units introduce you to the statistics side of your course. You’ll learn how statistical investigations are completed and how their results are presented to the public.

Units 25 and 26: Probability I

Here, we’ll introduce the idea of probability and how real-world data can be described using statistical distributions. You’ll also learn the concept of hypothesis testing.

Units 27-29: Probability II:

These units allow you to develop your statistical knowledge to work in a wider variety of situations. They complete the statistics part of your course.

Units 30-32: Mechanics I:

Now you’re ready to move on to your mechanics learning. In these units, you’ll be introduced to the study of kinematics – how objects behave when they are moving.

Units 33-35: Mechanics II

Here, you’ll round off your mechanics learning by considering some more complicated situations. These include problems where two objects are connected, or problems where friction and other forces act on an object.

Your course is completed with a full set of mocks for either A Level or iA Level.

There are no entry requirements, but a GCSE or IGCSE in this subject would be beneficial.

A Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) has to be completed at the end of each unit and then submitted to your tutor. Once your tutor has assessed the assignment, it will be returned to you with feedback and a final grade. After passing each assignment successfully, you will be ready to take your exam.
