Grief and Bereavement Counselling
About the Grief and Bereavement Counselling Certificate
Bereavement is the time people spend to adjust to the loss of loved ones. Grief is an expected reaction to any form of loss. Both vary hugely on an individual basis. This grief and bereavement counselling course is specifically designed to help you recognise and respond to the nature and scope of bereavement and helps you explore different approaches for coping with loss.
This online course will offer insights towards attitudes to death, the four different phases of grief, addresses bereavement in children separately, and it examines when expressions of grief become unhealthy. Key takeaway: there is no right or wrong way to deal with loss, but there are tools and techniques to make the process easier.
Who should study this course?
This is an essential course for anyone working with the grieving. It also complements nursing training for those working on an end-of-life ward, or in hospices.
You do not need any prior experience or qualifications to enrol on the grief and bereavement course online. All you need is an interest in this topic, a way to access our course materials, and the motivation to engage in independent home study.
What happens after the course?
At the end of the grief & bereavement counselling course you will have learnt skills such as coping with bereavement, identifying unhealthy behaviour patterns and support techniques for those dealing with grief and loss. You could be studying this in addition to any nursing or healthcare training. On the other hand, you may want to specialise your studies further with a course in child psychology, or counselling skills.
Once you successfully completed this course you may choose a career working in the public sector with people who may face death on a daily basis such as police officers, paramedics or fire officers. You could work with children.
