Frequently Asked Questions

Compared to some pets, cats are relatively independent. They groom themselves, require less space, and don't need constant walks. However, they still need daily feeding, clean litter boxes, playtime, and vet checkups. Their happiness thrives on mental stimulation and attention, so scratching posts, toys, and cuddles are important. Overall, cats can be a good fit for busy lifestyles, but they still require a commitment to their physical and mental wellbeing. If you’re thinking of getting a cat, this course will help you understand all their needs and set you up to be an excellent pet parent.
Feline welfare focuses on ensuring cats have a good quality of life by meeting their five basic needs: a safe and comfortable environment, a species-appropriate diet, the ability to express natural behaviours like scratching and climbing, opportunities for positive social interaction or solitude as preferred, and protection from pain, suffering, injury, and disease.
Understanding cat behaviour is key to building a strong relationship with your feline friend. By deciphering their body language and vocalisations, you can identify their emotions and provide what they need. This can prevent unnecessary stress, address potential health issues signalled by behavioural changes, and ultimately create a happier and more secure cat.
The UK offers a variety of cat-related careers. You could directly care for felines as a cattery worker, groomer, or cat sitter. Alternatively, consider veterinary fields specialising in feline health, feline behaviour consultation to address problem behaviours, or even work with cat welfare organisations like Cats Protection, helping rehome cats and advocating for their wellbeing.
This course offers a wealth of knowledge for both cat owners and aspiring cat career paths. Whether you want to be the best cat parent or pursue a feline-focused profession, this course covers essential areas like feline health, creating a stimulating home environment, and understanding cat behaviour. This knowledge empowers you to care for your own cat's wellbeing and provides a strong foundation for various cat-related careers, from veterinary fields to cat behaviour consultations.
