About the Bullying in Schools Certificate

Unfortunately, bullying is present in many schools across the UK. However, if teachers, teaching assistants and the other professionals working in schools are taught to deal with it effectively, the problem may be reduced. This course has been designed for school employees, or anyone who works with children, to help them spot the signs of bullying and figure out ways to prevent it.

This distance learning course is made up of five modules. These informative units will help employees to spot any signs of bulling and teach them how to tackle the situation. By the end of the distance learning material, learndirect students will have an increased awareness of cyber bullying, e-safety and will even know how to help and support victims of bullying.

This course has been specifically designed for school employees or anyone who works with children. Bullying is a serious issue, and those who work in an environment where it occurs regularly should be trained to deal with it effectively.

The Learning Outcomes for this assignment are:

  • To develop your own definition of bullying and to identify the types of bullying which occur.
  •  To look at where bullying takes place and to develop an understanding of why it takes place.
  •  To identify typologies of bullies and victims
  • To develop an understanding of the effects of bullying on a pupil.

Module Two: The Background – Guidance, Research and Statutory Responsibilities Relating to Bullying

The Learning Outcomes for this assignment are:

  • To develop an understanding of key research findings and to identify what schools who manage bullying successfully do.
  • To analyse key Government and Ofsted guidance on bullying
  • To develop an understanding of Statutory Responsibilities relating to bullying 
  • To reflect on your own school’s policies and practice in relation to bullying

Module Three: Help and Support for Victims of Bullying

The Learning Outcomes for this assignment are:

  • To understand the types of support and help that are available for victims of bullying.
  • To develop an understanding of the types of assertiveness training available to victims and also identify benefits of such training.
  • To look at the way Peer Support and Restorative and Reconciliatory Approaches can be used
  • To understand how we can keep children safe in school.

Module Four: e-Safety / Cyberbullying and Bullying of Vulnerable Groups

The Learning Outcomes for this assignment are:

  • To look at the issue of e-Safety and Cyberbullying and what should be done to protect children from it.
  • To identify how the law helps us to protect children who are victims of cyberbullying.
  • To understand the importance of supporting children who have been victims of sexual bullying.
  • To develop an understanding of identity related bullying and what strategies can be used to support those affected.

Module Five: Bullying – A Whole School Response

The Learning Outcomes for this assignment are:

  • To identify what a Whole School Anti-Bullying Policy should contain
  • To understand the types of surveys and data available
  • The impact that bystanders can have on bullying
  • To provide a course summary

 

Entry Requirements

There is no experience or previous qualifications required for enrolment on this course. It is available to all students, of all academic backgrounds.

All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.
