About Your Course

The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018 sets out the duties of local authorities in England to license activities involving animals and the relevant establishments relating to this.

  • Be able to understand requirements for staff training, knowledge, and onsite supervision
  • Understand provision of information, advice, and guidance at animal care establishments

Unit 3: Skills in Practical Animal Care

Upon completion of this unit, you will:

  • Know how to carry out a risk assessment in animal care establishments
  • Be able to handle and restrain animals in animal care establishments
  • Be able to carry out analysis of animal accommodation
  • Be able to observe animal behaviour
  • Be able to health check animals
