How Do GCSE Resits Work Online?

18th June 24

If you’re studying GCSEs or iGCSEs online with us and you don’t get the grade you needed the first time around, don’t panic, there’s always the option to resit your exam.

All you need to do is inform your tutor that you want to resit the exam and complete the form sent to you via Atom. This will give you the option to select the most convenient exam centre for you, just like the first time you booked your original exam.

Please bear in mind you will need to provide the necessary identification (ID) and a recent photograph of yourself.

Your resit comes at an additional cost and you’ll need to purchase and register for your resit before the cut-off date, otherwise you may have to pay a late registration fee.

Cut-off dates for exam applications are:

  • 31st July for Autumn exams (please note, not all subjects have exams available in Autumn)
  • 31st December for Summer exams

Our resit process is the same as our process for booking your original exam, so it should be straightforward for you to complete. However, if you do need any assistance, you can contact your tutor via your online learner portal.

We wish you the best of luck with your resit! Remember, around 60%* of students who resit GCSEs improve their results by an average of two grades, so the odds are in your favour!
