Assessments will be carried out using various evaluation mediums such as, observation of practice, an internally set and marked portfolio of evidence, and an internally set and marked 30-minute professional discussion covering any aspect of professional practice.

Placement or Practical required

Placement and practice are crucial for developing high-quality teaching skills. To complete this qualification, learners must undertake a minimum of 250 hours in a further education setting, with at least 150 hours dedicated to teaching practice. Of these, at least 100 hours should focus on the trainee’s subject area, including a minimum of 80 hours of face-to-face delivery and 20 hours of live remote teaching.

This qualification does not provide the learner with the credentials required to teach in primary or secondary schools. Upon completion of this qualification, learners can apply for the professional formation of Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) Status through the Society for Education and Training (SET).

If placement or practical required, when?

Learners must have access to a work placement, within a further education setting, throughout the duration of this qualification.
