IGCSE Human Biology – including exams

Human Biology is the study of the structure and function of the human body, looking at how the human species evolved, how we change over our lifespan, how we adapt to life stressors, and how our bodies are influenced by food, nutrition, disease, and environmental factors.

But for everything we know, there’s much more to discover, such as immunology and evolution.

This course will develop your knowledge of human biology, focusing on the medical aspects of human processes, examining how the human species evolved, how we change over our lifespan, and how external factors affect us. You learn about the physiology of the body's major systems, the impact of nutrition and the environment on health, and human development and evolution.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

You will be unable to book your exam until all outstanding course fees are settled in full, this includes any associated charges deemed to be payable as per your initial contract.

All courses funded via our partner Premium Credit Limited will need to be settled with them directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

While IGCSE Human Biology requires focused effort, the challenge can be hugely rewarding. Imagine dissecting the puzzle of how you function: understanding complex systems, analysing medical mysteries, and unlocking secrets hidden within your cells. The learning curve might be steep, but the sense of accomplishment for cracking these codes can be immensely satisfying. Additionally, the subject inherently connects to your own life, making it relevant and engaging as you explore the science behind every day experiences like exercise, nutrition, and sleep. If you enjoy intellectual challenges, exploring real-world applications, and unravelling the wonders of the human body, then IGCSE Human Biology offers a unique and exciting journey.
Our IGCSE Human Biology course embarks on a fascinating exploration of your own body, delving into its building blocks, intricate systems, and life-sustaining processes. From the microscopic world of cells and tissues, you'll zoom in on the essential biological molecules that make you tick. Uncover the framework that supports you with bones, muscles, and joints, and explore the marvels of your nervous system's coordination that keeps you balanced and moving. Learn how food fuels your body through nutrition and energy, and unlock the secrets of respiration and gas exchange, where oxygen becomes the lifeblood of your cells. You’ll also discover the intricate highways of internal transport that deliver vital supplies throughout your body and delve into the amazing homeostatic mechanisms that maintain a stable internal environment. The miracle of life unfolds through the study of reproduction and heredity, while the world of disease challenges you to understand how pathogens and your immune system interact. Each topic equips you with the knowledge and skills to appreciate the incredible complexity of the human body.
Mastering IGCSE Human Biology requires a multi-pronged approach. Focus on understanding, not memorising, using resources like diagrams and animations to visualise concepts. Practice with past papers and mark schemes to identify areas for improvement and get familiar with exam structure. Create mind maps, flashcards, or study guides to actively recall and solidify knowledge. Explain concepts to others or form study groups for collaborative learning and deeper understanding. Don't neglect practical applications, conducting experiments or simulations to solidify theoretical knowledge. Seek help from your tutors if you encounter difficulties. Remember, consistency and active engagement are key to unlocking success in IGCSE Human Biology.
While IGCSE Human Biology itself isn't a direct qualification for most professions, it paves the path for diverse and exciting options. It serves as a strong foundation for further science studies like A-Levels or BTECs in healthcare, opening doors to careers in medicine, nursing, biotechnology, or research.
