Kirsty Shaw, a 35-year-old dog lover and entrepreneur in Aberdeen, has been running her own dog grooming studio for the past 14 years. Passionate about canine care, Kirsty decided to take her expertise to the next level by enrolling in learndirect’s Level 6 Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy with Hydrotherapy & Level 3 Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy.
Kirsty’s rich background in canine-related courses, from behaviour to pharmacology, made her a perfect fit. Her goal? To expand her skill set and ultimately open a hydrotherapy and physiotherapy centre for dogs, combining her grooming expertise under one roof.

Kirsty’s hands-on practical training at Paddocks Farm left a lasting impression. "My time at Paddocks Farm was a very positive and enjoyable one," she shared. Working with a variety of canine patients, Kirsty learned the ins and outs of hydrotherapy, from gait assessments and gathering vet reports to conducting full hydrotherapy sessions and safely guiding dogs in and out of the pool.
"I was nervous at first, but Geri and her team made me feel at ease and very welcome. Staying in their lovely on-site log cabin made everything so convenient. I felt like I learned many skills, and it really helped build my confidence."
